The Wayuu backpacks are part of a tradition in the Wayuu indigenous community that inhabits the Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia. Because of the complexity of the bag, not two bags are ever alike. Each bag is the creation of an inspiration and you won't find any two that are the same. When you order, you will get a similar bag, with similar colors.
The Wayúu mochilas fascinate by its color, design and complexity of techniques used in its preparation. Easily recognizable by the geometric figures that symbolize the elements of nature (animals, stars, plants, etc.) surrounding the Wayuu everyday life.
The work of producing a Wayuu backpack is around 20 days and is produced by a single woman on her own.
